Extractions/Wisdom Teeth Removal

Our dentists at World Dental always explore the best treatment options for you, even if it means extracting your tooth. Although we aim to preserve all your natural teeth, however, when the damage is already irreversible, then we choose to remove the affected tooth. Decay, damage because of an accident, and impacted wisdom teeth are the common reasons we perform extractions.

Two types of tooth extraction

Simple extraction

When the tooth that needs removal is visible to our dentists, they carry out a simple extraction. They numb the extraction site first with a local anesthetic to reduce the patient’s pain before they elevate, loosen, and dislodge the tooth.

Surgical extraction

Our dentists also perform a surgical dental extraction when the tooth is not easily accessible inside your mouth. This usually applies when removing an impacted wisdom tooth or third molar. The dentists numb the area near the impacted third molar. They may also use sedation options such as laughing gas or oral pill to ensure the patient feels comfortable throughout the procedure. Then, they make an incision through the gums and expose the tooth. Most times, the dentists break the tooth into smaller pieces for easy removal.

There’s nothing to worry about when we say that your tooth needs removal. It only means this is the best course of action to save the rest of your teeth. Call us today at World Dental and book an appointment if you have a tooth or two that needs to be checked and removed.
